Course Description

The NVQ Level 5 (TESL) course at Kekirawa English Academy (KEA) is a professional-level teacher training program designed to equip students with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to teach English as a Second Language. It combines classroom pedagogy, language theory, curriculum design, assessment methods, and supervised teaching practice. Students are exposed to both traditional and modern approaches in language instruction, integrating technology, communicative techniques, and inclusive strategies to teach diverse learners in different contexts (schools, language centers, adult education). The program includes workshops, micro-teaching sessions, peer observations, and a final teaching practicum in real classroom settings under mentor supervision.

Certification

Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive the National Diploma in Teaching English as a Second Language (NVQ Level 5, TESL) from Kekirawa English Academy in affiliation with the relevant national qualification authority (e.g. Tertiary & Vocational Education Commission or equivalent). This certification will certify that the holder is qualified to teach English to non-native speakers at secondary and adult education levels.
